PF-3115: Computational and statistical techniques of Machine Learning

In this class we will discuss various topics from the vast area of Machine Learning from the points of view of Computer Science, as well as Statistics. This includes a historical view of how Machine Learning arose from classical statistical methods, but also a discussion on when which techniques are more appropriate. An important consideration for all applications of Machine Learning as well as Statistical Learning, which we will also cover in class, are ethical considerations about the collection, storage and use of data. Details about the class can be found in the syllabus. We have also prepared a LaTeX template for the project proposal.
